Tikkun Olam Nursery and Primary School was founded in 2014 by Yoash Mayende, a prominent leader of the Abayudaya (Jewish) community in Namutumba District, Uganda.
Our school is operated through the auspices of the Abayudaya, and although most of the 300+ children are Jewish, and Jewish education is stressed, we also have students from Christian and Muslim backgrounds.
Tikkun Olam is a Hebrew phrase which means 'restoring the world'. We believe that providing knowledge to our young people is their birthright, one which all children should receive.
Our aim is to better their lives, and through education we can achieve this. We're reaching out to religious communities in the area and around the world to further support our school and our people.
We're focused on the belief that our people must be self-reliant, and encourage vibrant families to grow and be competitive in business, regardless of their previous financial difficulties. Together our community will prosper. With your support we can continue this vital work.
Shalom hacal haverim - "Together we can".
